GEM Agent Service Control V1.1.0
Service Pack 1

Service Packs add improvements and provide fixes to problems discovered by GMB and our customers. Note that the symptoms (problems) described below may not be experienced by your site. Many of these symptoms are due to a unique set of circumstances that your site may not experience. Not all of the 'fixes' are because of faults in the code; many are 'work-arounds' for problems found in network, operating system or database products used by GEM but not supplied by GMB.

GEM Agent Service Control Service Pack 1 for Release 1.1.0 contains all corrections and improvements made to GEM Agent Service Control v1.1.0 since its release. Corrections include fixes to address the following symptoms:

  • GEM-Agent Service may produce an error in the event log: "Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'std_doc' with unique index." [Ref: F001]
  • GEM-Agent Service may store an attachment with the wrong file name format. This causes a search in GEM-RDBM to fail. However, a search in GEM-TC will work. [Ref: F002]
  • The user used to be able to click on the Exit button without stopping the service first. This would kill any GEM process running, such as indexing, requiring a re-index of the database. To avoid this happening, the Exit button is disabled until the user clicks on the Stop button. [Ref: F005]
  • Removal of a memory leak. [Ref: F007]

Installation

Requirements

  • Prior to applying the service pack, you must ensure that the GEM-Agent Service application is already installed on the SQL Server.
  • If the application is already installed, you must ensure that it is not running. To stop the application running, click Stop and then Exit buttons.
  • If the above requirements are met, you may install the service pack.

Installing the Service Pack 1 for Exchange Server

  • From the SQL Server computer, execute the SP1GEM11.exe.
  • Upon accepting the licence agreement, the service pack will be installed on the SQL Server.
  • You may now restart the GEM-Agent Service for GEM e-mail processing.
