What are the benefits of participating in a
beta test program?
There are many benefits for participating in a beta test program:
To You - This is the opportunity to utilize software before it is commercially
available to see how well it fits with your business
goals. Depending on the product there may be certain incentives (free
software, discounted software etc). Our goal is to ensure that the final product ships with no
unknown defects and to improve your knowledge of how a product works so
that final installation is seamless.
To GMB - We get 'real-world' feedback from real users in a variety of
industries and IT environments. This helps us to build a more stable,
better featured and more competitive product.
What support do you receive as a beta test site?
Free 1-800 telephone support will be available when you are
installing the product - then online support thereafter.
You will be
provided with a sign on password which will allow you to download
updates/service packs from our FTP site. We will also email you regular updates
on how the beta testing is progressing.
We will try to ensure that the installation steps and instructions
are easy to follow.
Can you use this beta software in production
(as a 'Live' working system)?
We recommend that you install the beta software as a separate
installation.
Beta software is not production ready and should not be relied upon
to be bug free. The objective of beta testing is to find the
'environment-specific' bugs that do not show up in laboratory testing.
While GMB makes every effort to ensure that its beta software is bug
free and tests it thoroughly in the laboratory prior to sending it to
beta test participants, the software is not yet certified production
ready. We strongly recommend, as with all beta software, that you do not
use it with production data.
